Re: OB
When our daughter was born 8 years ago, I had other doctor's (friends of mine)look at her delivery and prenatal records. I am a nurse so I also studied her records and prevailing literature of the time and decidied that Our daughter's injury was just one of those rare and "unpredictable and un preventable" things thathappen.
As months and years went by and we became friends with the therapists we had learned that there were 4 or 5 other BPI kids that the OT was also treating
and a couple of others that the PT was also working with. At some point we asked them if they knew who our daughter's OB was and if they knew who had
delivered the other children that they were working with. They knew and they told us that they were one and the same.
I looked at the Calif. Medical Board's licensure information about our OB/Gyn and he had a perfect license with privilages to train and work with FNPs and PAs.
Now we have recently gotten even more information from documents that our attorney got from the hospital. It turns out that our daughter was the 11th
of 15 children born with Erb's palsy in the past 10 years all delevered by this same doctor.
The hospital/state medical association/other doctors/private out of court settlements and other proceedures are very effective at maintaining the "code of silence" when it comes to doctor's errors.
There were lies and omissions on my daughter's birth records and the Doctor's copies ofall ofher records were destroyed "accidentally" by the hospital when their parent corperation bought out the bad OB's practice.
The more I dig the worse this doctor looks and had I given up having him invistigated because the events of my daughter's delevery looked normal on her medical records, I might actually be recommending this doctor to other pregnant women based on his wonderful bedside manner, efficient office and kind and attentive staff.
