Re: 6 Week Old With Brachial Plexus Injury
Personally, I would avoid the sedation thus avoid that list of risks and go with the other hospital for the EMG testing. That is just me though. It was uncomfortable for JC, but not wish-he-was-sedated-painful (just my opinion...). -Sending you a message.

Re: 6 Week Old With Brachial Plexus Injury
Did they say why they are sedating her? And secondly, if they insist on sedating baby girl, really be insistant about having it scheduled first thing in the morning... the office is less likely to be behind in appts. so early and so that way baby girl will have less time without milk. I know many pl...

Re: 6 Week Old With Brachial Plexus Injury
Tuckersmommy- Is he still in the brace then? JC had the muscle/tendon surgery at 19 mos. old and what I loved about it is that we saw some results right after we took off the brace for the first time! It still took a few years of strengthening/retraining (via a few rounds of modified constraint ther...

((big hugs)). Playing the waiting game is hard. I always thought myself a patient woman, but after I had my son, it was like learning patience infinity! 5 yrs. later and we still play a bit of the waiting game. Hang in there, Mama. Has your baby had an EMG yet? Here was the timeline when my son (now...

Re: Wii
We have the Wii Mario Cart racing game for my 5 year old. It forces him to use both hands together on the Wheel... he has to supinate and because it's repetitive, it provides some strengthening. He also gets excited and when he's supposed to jump over ramps, he raises the wheel with both arms up by ...

((big hugs)). When kids have Horner's and Diaphragm issues it can point to a more serious brachial plexus injury. I would look up a Brachial Plexus Center in your area and have your sister call them. Many will do self-referrals if the hospitals are being pokey. Be there for your sis. Ask her how she...

Re: MRI results
My son had the muscle transfer/tendon releases at 19 mos. old. He was so limited in his range of motion due to tightness that it wasn't even an option in our minds to have it done. He had the nerve surgery done as an infant and knowing that we were not getting the full effect of that surgery because...

Re: Just plain frustrated .....
I would talk to Dr. Grossman about your thoughts/concerns. He will probably recommend you get a second opinion at another BP Center (Cincy, Philly, Boston). BP doctors have no problem referring you to another respected and knowledgable care provider for second opinions. I urge you to definitely do y...

Re: Glenohumeral Dysplasia
We had the muscle transfer/tendon releases surgery done when my son was 19 mos. old at Cincinnati Children's because x-rays started showing deformity and he was very limited in his ROM. It helped his ROM soooooooo much and was beyond worth it. We are still working on strengthening (it's been 3 years...

Re: Robotic Rehablitiation
Cincinnati Children's Hospital's Brachial Plexus Center has the exact same equipment and program there!!! The upper extremity one is used frequently with kiddos who have a brachial plexus injury. You can always contact them to ask more questions about their equipment and program. Very cool!
