Re: 24 Hours of Lemons

Dan, The sling is working great, thanks! I was playing soccer 1-2 days a week all through grad school so I've been getting a lot of use out of it. The lack of snow this winter, combined with grad-school-induced poverty, means I only got out for a couple days of snowboarding. Of course it's snowing n...

Anyone with experience tapering down or off Gabapentin?

I have been on 1200 mg 3x/day for several years and I'm trying to taper down just to see how my body reacts. I don't have any negative side-effects and I'm honestly not worried about any effects on my body - but if less would work, why take more, especially as it's expensive. I kept track of my pain...

Re: Type Keyboard with One Hand software

I strongly suggest that if you're using a PC, you check out using AutoHotKey, which is FREE, to run a one-handed script. Instructions are at: http://warped.org/blog/2008/10/06/the-free-one-handed-keyboard/ I am in the middle of grad school - lots of typing, i'm currently writing my literature review...

Want to talk to a few people who have had amputation...

Thats it. If you have had your arm amputated and are willing to talk to me about it, can you send me a message so we can exchange some kind of contact information (phone/facebook/AIM/gchat) that will facilitate an actual conversation?

Thanks,
-brian

Re: Any regrets?

I avulsed multiple nerve roots and had no function from the shoulder down. I have had two nerve transfers - spinal accessory to supraspinatus, and intercostal to bicep. It has only been 2.5 years, but as of now, I am leaning towards amputation anyway. It's a really hard call to make though, since if...

Re: motorcycles and BPI

No, I hadn't, and I feel like I knew more about the potential hazards of riding and was a more careful rider than most people are. For those who aren't familiar, I was hit by another motorcycle rider who didn't know what the ____ he was doing and blew his corner entry, locked up his brakes, and woun...

Re: My new custom cutting board

If you want one, I can make it happen, no problem. I do know other people with access to machine tools, that particular friend was just my best bet - he enjoys working up solutions to problems like that. The other thing I can do is just draw up what we did, with notes about what should remain standa...
