- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: January 1980 Yamaha RD200 vs 16 wheeler truck, result, 1 totally paralysed right arm. I was 21, now 54. I had no surgery, I don't regret this. Decided to totally ignore limitations (easily done aged 21) adapted very quickly to one handed life, got married, had 3 kids, worked- the effect of the injury on my life (once the pain stopped being constant) was minimal and now, aged 54, I very rarely even think of it, unless I bash it or it gets cold, then I wish I'd had it amputated :) Except for a steering knob on my car, I have no adaptations to help with life, mainly because I honestly don't think of myself as disabled and the only thing I can't do is peel potatoes, which is definitely a good thing.

hi Paul I'm fine, how's your recovery going?
A peep is a person, peeps are people, so yes, I guess you are one.....it's a term a lot of Brits use and from what i can see it's spreading throughout the world, it came from a skit in a tv show years ago about a Greek Cypriot kebab seller.....honestly! Or was that a Turkish Cypriot....can't remember.....:0)

Hi,
I did not have an accident. Rather mine was an attempted suicide due to depression. I jumped under a train. Ended with TBPI.
In my experience TBPI is a joke compared to severe depression. But I emphasize that I'm only talking about my own personal experience and noone else's.

Hi Paul, motorcycle therapy sounds good to me! Took me a year of PT to be able to open the throttle on my bike but kept me focused on a goal, good one!

Hi all, just came to give a update on recovery so far.
I'm feeling stronger and i'm lifting my arm up higher. I can finally pick my nose LOL. It doesn't look norman the way I do it for now but at least can do it. This was the only way I could think of to follow my progress at home.lol. good luck to all and don't give up.

Hello, I'm a 34 yr. male from central Minnesota USA
my bpi happened in march of 92. I'm left handed and the bpi has effected most of my left arm. most of the use of my left hand has returned. thank God.
I've never known anybody else with a bpi. Not to mention a web site.
It's been over ten years since the auto accident that almost took my life, it would be nice to be able to attend this camp in NY, and meet so many others that have been experiencing all that comes with a bpi.

Chad its nice to hear from you. A word of wraning you have to be realy carefull about these gatherings and camps. I went to a day event in long Island not to see Dr. Nath But just to meet other pepole that I have been talking with on this board and I was denyed entry to a public building and what was mostlly a public event. I just now returned from the 2nd meeting with my attorneys as to whom and how to sue. I won't go to another one to mush bullshit. But investagte it, talke to every one make sure its real so that your not let down. No ever called to applagize to me after I went home. But thiars is coming. Paul
