Re: Bradley is supinating!!!!
What wonderful, wonderful news!
I know some children have had supination return and then lost it after the caps surgery. Are they saying this is something that could happen or not with this new procedure? Do you think the external rotation and supination is coming more from the caps or the new procedure? I would guess it would be hard to tell.
I am also wondering, when you say supination do you mean supinating with the elbow bent down at the side or do you mean with the arm straightened out in front without the elbow bent, like reaching out for change? I noticed my child really has difficulty when it comes to reaching out in front and supinating at the same time.
Congratulations again!!! Go Bradley!

Guest,
Bradley is supinating with his arm down to the side and continues to do so everyday(thank God). We have not tried straight out in front yet. It wouldnt be straight though, he has a contracture of the elbow. Hopefully that can be worked out with the ultra flex and PT. I feel the supination is happening because of both the caps and plasty's. Both his clavical and acromion were overgrown by 1 centimeter each. I believe the way in which the bones were overgrown hindered his external rotation on top of the dislocation. I am also hoping because his arm is now in a more natural position the contracture will go away. We just have to wait and see.

Allison,
Aren't all of these new movements great?!? I know Matthew had a different procedure but it's still awesome. He got his arm back behind his head with ease when playing with a parachute this morning in pt. It was an amazing to see.
Keep us posted.
