Dear Francine,
I'm sorry to hear about the rudness you and Maia encountered at the children's birthday party. My son Grant is in his fifth week of the SOL post mod/quad. Just wanted to relate a little story that happened to us. Sunday we were at a Christmas Tea and one clod there kept making comments like "who wants more cookies...raise your hand", "Who's having fun... raise your hand" and on and on. I tried to ignore such comments because I could tell this person was not trying to be mean, but that he was just an inconsiderate boob. I calmy said, "I'm glad my son's injury has provided you with material for your act." Well, that stopped him dead in his tracks. He was finally speechles. We have also gotten the inquries about a broken arm etc. But, I have to say for the most part I just don't let it bother me because I am able to turn it into an opportunity to tell people what really happend to my son(the original birth injury)sometimes it's more info than they really want. At any rate, I hope that you and Maia have more sunny days than dreary ones!
