- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.
My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!
I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".

Re: Bra Staps (again!)
Hello girls,
I finally found easy bras...I have gone to camisoles with a built in bra and alternate with a sports bra;they all just go over the head...no strain or messing with constant adjustments. I do find that I have to get them thru catalog or internet shopping as I am in plus sizes.
As my son continually reminds me "why do it the hard way?"It took me 63 yrs to finally learn!

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

Since this is a "girls only" subject... LOL...
you can wear any bra just hook it in the front and turn it around to the back and put your arms into the stretch straps.
Sports or over the head is impossible for me I end up with spasam in my arm.
Front hooks are also and option for us.
Now I want a nail in my shoulder to hold that strap up.

YES -- I have the "bra" problem, too. Since I was more generously endowed than necessary, my DRS are recommending breast reduction and that process of approval through my insurance company has begun. Since my OBPI problems are simultaneously and rapidly becoming worse, I'm praying this surgery may help a bit as well.
Hope you all are having a great day and I agree that somehow we should be better respresented in the medical community and would be willing to help out in any fashion to that goal.

I always have problems with hooking bras, too. Recently, though, I found a bra by Maidenform that hooks in the front. Also, it has a racerback (t-like) design, so I don't have to worry about the straps slipping. In fact, I have more trouble keeping them from showing!

GOt the problem here too! I also like to use the ones that clasp in the front, but I do have some of the other ones and I just put it on backwards, then twist it around to the right way, and then put the straps on last. I also adjust the strap for my OBPI arm to be shorter.. that helps for it to not slip off.

Hi All!
I have found that racer-back bras are real lifesavers. The straps can't possibly fall down. Also, they sell those silicone strap cover things in the Miles Kimball catalog for $3.99 a pair. I don't know how well they work because I haven't tried them, but I intend to. Go to www.mileskimball.com, then click on Apparel & Personal Care, and then click on Foundations & Sleepwear. They're on page 3 of that category. For that price, I think they're worth a try.
