I haven't gotten around to reading that yet, but given that he was in North Carolina in December, I assumed it was cancer. Unfortunately, cancer takes so many great people from us way too early. It seemed from reading his "GUEST BOOK" that he had spent quite a bit of time in the hospital lately, not as the Doctor we know, but as a patient. Truly, sad, sad news, I am having a difficult time with this one. GAYLE mom of Brandon

PS on a lighter note, when I told my older children of Dr. Shenaq's passing, they looked at me with this horrible look. They said, "MOM, he was an awesome guy, I remember when you took Brandon to the Dr., he was the one with the coat full of "DUM-DUMS" (lollipops). Remember how he would always give us ours in our left hand and Brandon's in his right (HE IS ROBPI)." I just shook my head. He has touched so many lives !!!

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: Hi! I am Laura, the mom of Tyler, who has a ROBPI. I've been a member of this site since 1998 and owe a great deal to the wonderful people in the UBPN community who have helped us along the way get what we needed to get done for Tyler. Tyler is now 14 years old and in the 9th grade. He's a super bright kid and loves his video games. Tyler had the mod quad surgery with Dr. Shenaq shortly before he passed. That was his first and only surgery. Now that he is older he is requesting additional surgery. He'd like to be able to supinate. Our goal is for Summer 2013.

I feel a great deal of sadness over his passing. I just can't believe he died at such a young age. Dr. Shenaq did Tyler's surgery 2 years ago, and we have regularly followed up with him since then. He will be greatly missed.

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

How sad for his family I want to extend my deep sympathy to them.
He is a big loss to the BPI Community
I only met him a few times the last time was at the Narakas meeting in Italy, he was very gracious.

Oh my gosh, so many doctors at the brachial plexus clinic that have died so young.

Dr. Shenaq did one of Colleen's surgeries. I'm so sorry to hear this.

I am very sad to that a great man has pasted. He saved my life mentally and physically by giving the use of my right arm back to me which was caused by a motorcycle accident. I was told by so many doctors that i could not be helped, but Dr. Shenaq without out a doubt said he would fix me and he did. He will be greatly missed...
