Hi, my name is Paula
Re: Hi, my name is Paula
Hello everyone. My name is DeShawn and I am the mother of Rain (left 0bpi). Rain has had 3 surgeries so far and is not scheduled for any more at present. Rain is a very happy 2 year old full of love and life. She is truly a joy to have around. We also have a 4 year old daughter named Ocean. Needless to say there is never a quiet moment in my house. Rain loves Barney, and the Wiggles, and running away with Mommy's things (her favorite game). As you see her sense of humor is a little different than mine (smile). Take care,
DeShawn

Hi,
I'm Nancy, LOBPI, 48 years old.
My injury is a rupture of c5, c6, c7, c8 and t1. Because t1 was affected, I also have Horner's syndrome.
I had surgery as a child, 2 of them, both tendon and muscle transfers and releases. I recently also had the Mod Quad (about a year ago) and it has brought me lots of new ROM.
I am a professor at Kent State University. Have been married to Tim for 29 years, have a son who is 25 (born C-section), and 2 grandchildren.
It pains me greatly that this injury continues to happen at basically the same rate of injury as it did when I was born and yet medicine has progressed so much since then. It is for this reason that I spend as much of my spare time as possible working with UBPN, where I am on the board of directors and am secretary.

Hi everyone,
My name is Patty and Cole Michael was born with a LOBPI. He's 4 1/2 and had a muscle/tendon transfer/release and an Osteotomy (on his upper arm) last March. He gained external rotation, but lost some internal. He's also a tough little boy, with so much drive and personality like Kathleen said. He also has a 10 year old brother, and two step sisters, 13 and 16. I don't post much anymore, but do try to keep up reading. I have learned so much here. Thank you to everyone for your wonderful support.
Best wishes to everyone....

Hi, my name is Jeanne and my 6 year old daughter, Alyssa, has a LOBPI. At 7 months, she has primary surgery, at 2 years old, a nerve graft, both at Riley Chidlrens Hospital in Indy, then last June she had the mod quad done at TCH. June 24th this year she will be having the bicep lengthening also at TCH. Thanks to the internet and this board, when we had lost all hope, we found TCH!
We are currently awaiting a decision on SSI for Alyssa. We appealed in February due to the fact that SSA had no info from TCH. They requested info from a Dr. Nathan in Texas. Apparently, since I did not provide them with an address or phone number, just his name & hospital, this is how they do it...they did a search and that was the doctors name that came up and even though my name & phone number was on the same paper with his name, they never did bother to call me to get any additional information.
I got a call the first week on this month, from a lady that heps with the determination of SSI/disability cases. She said they had contacted TCH and hadn't heard back so I needed to call and find out how to get the medical records for them! I called Lisa Davis, who gave me the number for medical records so that this lady could get the records. This lady also told me on the phone that she wasn't going to leave our case open forever!!
I also have a daughter who turned 2 this past week. Having her party today & Barney is coming! LOL
