thanks for your input - it's nice to hear your point of view.
My son 13 years robpi - also feels some sensations in his affected arm - but not all of the arm, only certain areas . It is one of the curiosities of this injury and of course, the surgeons themselves are only speculating as to the reason for the lack of pain sensation in the arm - so it may all be incorrect.
One possibility is that some of the neural pathways develop - but rather than the hundreds of thousands we have in our unaffected arms, only a few thousand survive in the newborn - and maybe they just don't carry pain receptors.
I know that when Gavin has hurt his arm - or hand( he broke 2 fingers a couple of years ago) he had no sensation of pain at all from the broken fingers
oohh - if only we knew everyhting- life would be so
much easier!!!
