Re: POLY CYSTIC OVARIES??? HERNIA??
Have you read any medical articles linking PCOS to big babies? I would love to read something on that. Thanks.

Yes I have. Enter PCOS into search. Also check out your local library. Most states have a local PCOS support group.

Interesting article I found, although it doesn't seem to support the idea of PCOS sufferers having a higher incidence of fetal macrosomia. If anyone finds any articles to the contrary, please share! Thanks!

To the guest who was told the opposite "that the insulin/blood sugar issues caused the PCOS and that if the blood sugar issues were well regulated and weight was lost, etc that the PCOS would go away. " I had PCOS was I was a teen and weighed 115lbs (at 5'6") so i disagree from personal experience. I have suffered from PCOS thru thick and many years of thin and no difference.

Yes - I agree. I don't have most of the symptoms of PCOS that you read about, so I don't even know what would make mine go away. My blood sugar levels are normal, I've never been overweight or hirsute, and I have the easiest time getting pregnant of anyone I know! I just have "cyst-y" ovaries and occasional irregular cycles. Who knows what's going on in there???

From what I have read about PCOS and from my own issues with it is that you can have PCO or PCOS. You can have Poly Cystic Ovaries yet not have the syndrome. I received this information from an edocrinologist that I saw a few years ago just for this reason. I don't remember what seperates the two catagories maybe it's the severity such as male hormone amounts found in the blood, male patterned hair growth, the amount of cystes found in the ovaries etc...so I guess this might be up for debate. This could also explaine how one womans weight loss, diet and excersize can help the condition while it has no effect for others. I also know that once the treatment has stoppped, the condition will come back.

I never knew that my having PCOS could lead to shoulder dystocia in my baby! wow! I had an ovarian cyst grow to the size of a football in my second pregnancy and I had to have surgery to remove it during my 28th week. It was a pretty major surgery but we got through it fine. It was my 3rd child though that had an ROBPI.

Thank you for that information. I just learned something new! I'll have to ask my doctor about it next time I go in. Thanks!
