acramnioplasty?

My child will be three soon, Any of you who have had this surgery? I am wondering if I should do it now or wait. What are the outcomes your child got? My child has a hard time with over head motion any of you gain that with this surgery? Any info you have will help. What a struggle this one is.

My son had this surgery with Dr Nath one year ago, he's almost three. We are very pleased with the results. He is now able to get his arm up, over and behind his head. Something I didnt think would ever happen. The surgery also addressed his poserior dislocation, the humeral head is holding strong in it's proper place. We've had 3-d ct scans done to prove it. It also improved his external rotation. Out of the three sugeries he's had to date, this one gave us the most visable results in the shortest amout of time. I decided not to wait on this one, the longer the biomechanics of the arm are not correct, the more habits are formed, making it harder for the child to utilize the arm properly.

My child also had it with great results. We would do it again in a heartbeat.

my daughter anna had this surgery at 31/2 we were told for best results to have this surgery by age 4..
after anna's cast came off she was able to touch the top of her head and reach up.. Dr kozin did her surgery, she has three little holes can bearly see them two in the back one in the front i believe, took about an hour for the surgery.. we are very happy with her results.. she was in a cast for 4 weeks then went back to shriners to have cast removed,& brace put on( she got to pick out what she wanted on her brace, which to her was very cool even at 31/2) .. the week her brace was put on she went through a week of PT two times a day.. Shriners put us up in the Ronald McDonald house there..the entire experience was a good one.. the surgery was also a very good thing for my daughter..

My daughter had it last year (at age 7) with Dr. Nath with beautiful results for her. She has more range (including over her head), better positioning and even new function in her triceps that we weren't even expecting! She is still continuing to improve.

I was surprised to read that Dr. Kozin did this procedure. We recently saw him at the PA gathering. Dr. Shenaq has recommended this for our son but Dr. Kozin told us there wasn't enough evidence to prove it would help. hmmmmm
