hypnotherapy???
hypnotherapy???
Hey, n e 1 ever tried hypnotherapy? Iwas just thinking about it. Because if the pain is all in our minds, can hypnotherapy not help to forget about the affected appendage? I went and made an appointment for next week. Just wanna find out what it is all about. Can maybe trick the mind to shut off nerves, make it forget there was ever an arm in the first place.
Hopefully thinking
Denny.
P.S. I had a D.R.E.Z. not the best idea.
50/50 chance, and partial loss of affected side leg, mine fully recovered 2 months later.

Re: hypnotherapy???
tried it.......I was told you really have to believe in it to get anything out of it. It was relaxing but thats about it.
DREZ?? I found someone!! Didn't work? Thats what I have found in my research. I was also told that bladder control could be lost along with leg use and the % of peoples pain returning were really high. Who did yours? What was it like? What about your recovery?

Re: hypnotherapy???
About the DREZ, I had it done by Dr. Boyd in Vancouver BC, Canada. It was a 6 hr surgery, Neck was sore for about a month. My left leg, same side as bpi, was weak and didn't respond automatically to everything. I had to think about what I wanted it to do. Stairs were the weirdest. It did return to normal after about 2 months. The pain was reduced to something bareable for a month and a half, but once all the swelling went down, it all came back. The oddest thing I found was that I went in for spinal cord surgery on a thursday and was sent home on sunday! I have since had 2 surgery dates set to try again, but denied it due to the risk factor, doc wanted to burn hotter and longer. With the resulting loss of first time, I opted to not take the risk of permanent loss and fight the pain mentally as I take no medications.

Thanks for the info Denny..I remember you posting this way back when..how long ago did you have the DREZ surgery? I know of one man here in the UK that had his about 7 years ago now, and he also had leg probs, but the pain didn't come back. The leg wasn't too much of a problem later either, but I think he had a few more issues with it. Would be interesting to compare notes with someone who has had recently undergone this procedure and see if they are getting better at it these days.

Re: hypnotherapy???
I'd say my surgery was about 2 years ago, somewhere around then???? It's in the past, I stopped living in the past, live for the day. After full leg function was regained there is nothing else to report. Besides my bpi pain, my back bothers me alot, but that could be from any 1 of my 18 incidences of being involved in a motor vehicle smack.lololol. L8r.
