Texas March 29, anyone??
Texas March 29, anyone??
We just made all of our flight and hotel arrangements for the acromioplasty surgery at TCH. Not a good feeling!! Although we know it will help him and he will be in good hands. Nicholas is scheduled to go through the BPI clinic on March 29 and surgery on March 30. It does not get any easier the third time around, it is so stressful. We have not told Nicholas yet, it will be too much for him to worry about at this point. Anyone who has had this procedure, we would love to hear from you to see what the results were and the limits prior to the surgery. Thank you. Stacey

Sorry, we are March 22 and 23rd surgery. It doesn't ge any easier for the fourth one easier...How old is Nicholas? Katie is 3 and is not going to handle this trip well at all!
Re: Texas March 29, anyone??
I just read your message and are you having Dr. Nath do your son's surgery? Our son who is 31 now had a car accident in 1995 and had a complete avulsion. He has no use whatsoever of his right arm/hand and lives in pain. We took him to Dr. Kline and Dr. Tiel at LSU medical center for 3 years in a row. They said there was nothing they could do. Now I just found out about Dr. Nath. We are thinking about taking him out there for a consultation. Anything you could offer to tell us would be helpful. Thank you.
Re: Texas March 29, anyone??
We do take him to Dr. Nath and Shenaq. They have each operated on Nicholas once. He is so awesome. I can not say enough good things about him/both of them. We have seen Dr. Nath more, because he has also evaluated Nicholas two other times and we have talked via email and telephone a lot. Dr. Nath is very available to his patients. We highly recommend him. Stacey

Nicholas will have just turned 6 prior to this third surgery. His first surgery he was 3 and the second 4 and half. He never required primary fortunately. They are all way too vivid in his mind though. The last time we went he told me he did not like it "when the strangers took him from me." It broke my heart. He was talking about when they took him to the O.R. It will be tough. But these kids are amazing because as soon as they are discharged it is as if nothing has happened. It is play as usual!!
Re: Texas March 29, anyone??
Thank you for your reply. In your travels to Houston, have you seen any adults that Dr. Nath has helped? As I understand it, children are a whole different ballgame.
Re: Texas March 29, anyone??
I do know a 15 year old who has had one surgery by him and he continues to follow her but that is the oldest child I know, no adults that I know personally. Hers was a birth injury though. Sorry I could not be of more help. Stacey

My daughter had surgery with Dr. Nath in September of 03. SHe is 23 with a tbpi and so far things are improving slowly but he did tell us that it could take up to about 14 mos or so to see how much movement she gets back but is already getting some. Hurray for us and Dr. Nath. He's excellent and up front....one you can trust. You can email my daughter at cbe411@aol.com or watch for her on the boards. Good Luck! Shelley
