Horners Syndrome
Horners Syndrome
I had my yearly checkup at the opthamalogist yesterday. For the first time in 10 years, my prescription did not change! I am thrilled.
However, I have noticed that my eye with the Horner's which also has amblyopia, gets tired more easily, and when it gets tired, it can wander. I still have good control of it but have to force myself to focus. I asked my doc if that was due to the amblyopia or the Horners and he said that honestly, he did not know, but it was a muscle weakeness and could be the combination. He said at this point, not to worry, but if it became more of an issue as I age, that they could do muscle surgery (great, one more surgery).
So, my question to you long timers out there with Horner's along with your bpi, have you had anything like this?
My doctor also told me that out of his 49,000 patients, he has only 2 with Horner's!

eye exam
I think I would rather go to the dentist (no offense to any dentists out there!)
I never understood why one eye was smaller, why my pupil did not dialate properly... the words Horner's never passed anyone's lips.
Then I decided that my face looked like it was not aging etc... and its Horner's
Getting glasses is always a chore...they say my eyes have changed give me the new glasses and I cannot see... it takes a year before my eyes get comfortable with new script... I wear contact lens the last time the doctor said I should wear a stronger one on bpi side. I never had a balance problem until I started to do that... so I fixed it my self by wear the same strength on each eye and I am fine...
If anyone has an answer... shout it out... sorry nancy... glasses are a big issue for me.

I am curious about what Kathleen wrote about looking like her face was not aging. In what way? I've got the droopy lid, small pupil, poor vision, and reduced perspiration, but where can I sign up for this no aging thing?

Just watch your face... Is your smile crooked... my Mom told me it was cute... hmmmmmm
When I began to age I noticed that one side of my face was aging slower than the other... so all photos from the right please!!!!
It scared me when I noticed that I have less wrinkles on the right side I thought I had a stroke... of course only those close to me can notice it - can I put this on the plus side of obpi... lol..

Re: Horners Syndrome
I HATE THOSE WORDS!!! (eye exam, that is haha)
Yep it was my time again Kath and Nancy. I once again got my script tweeked and waited patiently only to find that my eyes are AGAIN having problems adjusting to the new lenses
I hate this and am so jealous Nancy that your eyes have stayed the same this time. I have never had anyone mention the word Horners, even tho when Haze was here she said she saw it on me?? I asked the Dr. (a new one) why I was having so many problems (again and still) adjusting to new lenses and never really feeling my vision was very good. He stated that I have a weak muscle behind the eye?? cornea?? Which impacts my vision. I agree Nancy...........like we need anything else...............lol Also (excuse my ignorance) what is Amblyopia.
So as you can see, like Kath, glasses ARE a big issue for me as WELL!!!!

Hi Tina,
There are a lot of web sites out there that can explain amblyopia, but this one explains how it can happen to someone with Horner's. It is because early neurological trauma to the eye can result in amblyopia. In my case the amblyopia is the cause of the lack of depth perception, which after much investigation, my doctors think is the real reason why I stumble and fall so much. I see the world in 2 dimensions, not 3.

You posted this website and now I realize the reason I can't get the right glasses....
When I was young the doctor said I did not focus properly but did nothing about it... then my pupil did not dilate (spelling due to rbpi) what next... I had to point out to the doctor that I had Horner's ...
I wonder if I could find an easy way to get glasses to work... LOL...
My new ones ( a year old and mucho dollars) make me dizzy and off balance and sick to my stomach so I am still wearing the old one's ... this time I went back twice and was assured my script was right... so how come I can't see unless I have contact lens and small reading glasses... hmmmmmm another thing to think about....
off to make an appoint with the dentist that's the easy one... LOL..
