Well I was born in the 50s with Erbs, Over my life time I have cut , burned, pulled, bruised , etc to my erbs side. I dont fell pain that much or that my arm was bleeding. Way harder as a child today with so many choses, I never had surgeries , but if I would of some how end up with some time of sensory issues to. The best thing for me to get over the emotions of erbs was try to find things to try to do one handed as a child or a adult. Trying to stay positive even if I fail by trying. One of my happiest time was when someone did not point out my erbs. I do not know if this help??

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.
My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: 10 year old Jessica born on 9/6/03 with a LOBPI.
Mostly recovered, no surgery, still has remaining functional deficits
including no active external rotation. - Location: The Woodlands, TX

OMG, my 10 year old, Jessica, has what is considered to be a "mild" injury (no surgeries and very good function), but she has extreme sensory issues! She is SO particular about her clothing, fabric, seams, embellishments, embroidery, etc., and she has had this sensitivity for as long as I can remember. Plus if someone gently pokes her or touches the deltoid area of her affected arm she yells like she was punched!

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: 28 years old with a right obstetrical brachial plexus injury. 5 surgeries to date with pretty decent results. Last surgery resolved years of pain in my right arm however, I am beginning my journey with overuse in my left arm

I know Jessica has had a great recovery but have you thought about seeking some OT to lessen the burden of the sensory issues Jessica is demonstrating? I am thinking a brushing program would likely help her a ton! But sensory integration therapy is all trial and error so an OT in your area might be a great resource. Being familiar with BPI would be a plus but not must for sensory integration therapy.
