- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: Birth, born with Cerebral Palsy, classified as a Left Sided Hemi Quad.
I have very limited use of my left arm. I can barely raise my arm above my head. I cannot fully extend my elbow it is always slightly bent. I can only use my hand for grasping large objects.
Surgeries: I have only had one on my arm, it was a Left Arm Tendon Transfer to bring my wrist up to neutral and to extend my fingers away from my palm.
I am considering having a SDR done on my Brachial Plexus and would love some advice on the procedure.
In Central Florida seeking some advice.
Hey Everyone
This is my first time posting on these boards and don't know if, I'm posting the right section but, if you can help me out I'm all for it. My name is Joe Haywood and I was born with Spastic Cerebral Palsy I'm classified as a left sided hemi quad. I am 27 years old now and live in Tampa. The reason I'm posting is to ask you all for some advice. I recently ran across several articles dealing with Brachial Plexus SDR surgery. These articles got my attention and interest a lot because when I was younger myself and my family primarily concentrated on my lower extremities. I went through years of PT to help out with my problem and when I was three and a half we traveled to Virgina undergo a Spinal SDR to lessen the spasticity in my legs. Now I'm hoping to get the same kind of results for my left arm.
Now on to why I'm reaching out to you all, since reading those articles I have researched for the best doctor in the country, preferably in the southeast? So, that both of my folks could travel with me for appointments and hopeful the operation that could help me. I was told that Dr. Jorge Orbay down in Miami was the best in the field in Florida.
Please anyone that can provide insight for my quest to find the best doctor to help me, please respond.

Hi,
It's Joe and had big issues with my account over the past two days. Question, is Dr. Grossman a Peds surgeon?

I do believe he works with lots of children...but I dont think he is strickly kids only.In his office he has lots of articles from news papers and awards for working and repairing Athletes who have been injured.Jockeys who have had horse accidents.I think he has a website too~ He is no doubt a fine Doctor. He studied along side of the Doctor who devolped the nerve surgery in the 80's.This is what ive been told
You have to find the right one for you of course but others advice and opinions do help too.
If u need any help...just email me.

Do you know anything about Dr. Jorge Orbay? His reviews are very mixed, some reviews hate him and others love him. My take is that some people take confidence in one's skills as arrogance.

Thank you very much for his contact information. I'm going to be contacting him in the morning. Also, have you found out anything good on Dr. Orbay?
