Re: Tendon transfer Dec 18 w/Dr Kozin
Linda Filipino from Shriner's can book the Ronald McDonald House for you. Just call her and she'll take care of it, she's very helpful. They work with the one in Camden, it's about 6 miles from the hospital. We stayed there the day before and after the surgery, then for the week of therapy. If you have her book it for you, they guarantee your room for you and waive the nightly fee. There's also a house in Philly on Erie St. That one doesn't work with Shriner's to guarantee the room. but it's closer. I haven't stayed at that one, but have heard it's nice as well. If you look up their website, you can see pics of both locations. They just put you on the wait list for the time you will be there. The Erie St location won't tell you for sure if you have a room until the day you get there. Phone numbers are:
Camden - 856-966-4663

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.
My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!
I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".

Thank You for your Update. I've had your daughter, and husband too,in my prayers and am happy for you al that things went well & they both made it safely home.
Don't forget to schedule a nearby sidetrip if weather permits to someplace in Philadelphia while you are there for you.

Re: Tendon transfer Dec 18 w/Dr Kozin
My daughter just had the tendon transfer surgery on Oct 26th. I am a worried mother as well and was freaking out about it but it went AMAZING! My daughter bounced back the same day and never once complained about the cast. She just got her cast off on Monday and the incision is not even noticeable. It's underneath her armpit and goes with the crease. I couldn't believe how amazing it looks. The parents take it a lot worse than the kids believe it or not. I expected the worst and I was so worried and it was all great. They take great care of the kids there. You will probably meet JD after the surgery, he is a nurse that works on the floor they go to after surgery. He is GREAT. All of the PTs are great. I was very happy with everything and you will be too!! The only thing that wasn't that great was the little tank top they have on under the cast gets very dirty hahaha!!! And the time they have it on goes by SO fast you'll be shocked!!! Good luck with everything! If you have any questions please feel free to contact me- I know how hard it is as a parent to go through this so anything you want to know just ask or just to talk if your feeling worried!!
