Winter-never noticed b4
Winter-never noticed b4
Hi! One thing i have heard a lot of since iv found these boards is how our arms get sore in the winter and jst cant get warm! well i had never noticed this b4, probably bcos i was completely unaware of my arm!
Today in class i was sittin doin my work and i got the most awful pain shoot right up my arm. it seemed to concentrate jst below my should(kinda at the joint), i actually dont remember anythin like that! but recently in the colder months iv jst had like small pain, like a sore stomach in my arm(if this is possible) and also iv noticed that my erb arm is really colder than my good arm. Iv saw my nails go purple and my fingers dont move as good as they normally do!
For all you that have had experience with this, how can i make it stop! not so much the pain, i can live with it but i cant hav my fingers freezin over for the winter,LOL i have a piano exam on the 20th of December! and my fingers arent movin easily enough to get them goin quick enough! damn!
Help!

PS y do arms get colder and sorer??

Michele,
They sell hand warmers here...you can find them in ski shops - they're really cheap and you just open the package and they get warm. Can you find something like this where you are? If not, let me know and I"ll send you a box of them. They are great...just put them in your glove.
The other thing you can try is silk glove liners. You can also find them in sports shops... maybe a shop that sells camping/hunting gear.
And then also - there is somethihng here called Thermacare - it's somewhat like the hand warmers but bigger - you can wrap a large one around your arm. They are GREAT! but this can be expensive...
Before I play piano, I always soak my hands in hot water for about 5 minutes then they are ready to go.
The other thing I did that helped my hands get more warm is to get Reiki attuned. Are you into holistic things? Reiki is excellent and as soon as I did my first class, my hands became warmer.
well - hope you like my ideas!

A parafin spa is great for warming up the bpi hand. The warmth really soaks in. AND it softens your hands too!
Would make a really good Christmas gift. Hubby got me one for Christmas last year and I love it.

Hi Michelle
You can buy re-usable hand warmers from Boots the chemist; they are about £7.79, and last about 1 hour before they need re-heating in hot water.
They also do one that is made from velvet, and filled with lavender so your hands smell nice too!! These ones heat up in the microwave..nice and easy. Cost about a tenner.
Hope this helps...

Michelle,
I like to wear fleece material as much as possible in the winter. Not only does it keep my arm warm, but it's very flexible and lightweight, so it's easier to move a bpi injured arm while wearing it.
I know most of us are sensitive to the feeling of different fabrics on our bpi arms, so the softness of it is also a plus!
And, of course, fleece is also in fashion this year.
LOL!
Take Care,
Stephanie

I am with you Steff
I like soft material... nothing that is rough and polar fleece hmmmmmmmm so warm and comfy and soft...
Michelle
Today's fashion statements --- wearing your sleeves too long... look at all the tv stars... you can never see their hands... love warm long sleeves on sweaters when my hand starts to freeze.

Michelle - email me your address and when I find those thin hand warmers I'll send you some.
Has anyone tried the silk glove liners? My husband swears by them. He has just about zero bodyfat and he gets really cold...he wears long underwear everyday to work! and uses those silk glove liners.
