Keyboard?
Keyboard?
Does anyone have a mini/compact keyboard recommendation? I've found some online but it's hard to know whether they are actually smaller (less than 6 inches between P and Q) or if they just compact the size around a regular keyboard. I type one handed with my left (uninjured side) hand and the keyboard at work is giving me a repetitive strain injury. I'd like to find a smaller one that I can replace it with (and take with me if I change jobs, etc). Thoughts? Would anyone recommend the leapfrog or other ones set up for one-handed typers specifically?
Thanks,
Carrie

Re: Keyboard?
Carrie, are you certain the problem is the size of the keyboard?
Anyway, I think I need to check out what's available now. Was that the FrogPad you were referring to?
My preference for 6 years is the $30 Macally USB Slim Keyboard. Although it is full size, it has laptop-style scissor switch keys that require very little force. I also had to train myself not to reach with my pinky, but move my wrist instead. Also, I install this keyboard on every PC or Mac I use in the day.

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.
My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!
I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".

Carie,
I BUMPED UP a Thread on One-Handed Keyboard discussion for you on the General Message Forum Board. You may find the information somewhere there as it was quite lengthy discussion, many posts on it.
