need to vent- to the ONLY people that will get it
need to vent- to the ONLY people that will get it
Okay- so I work in the admitting dept at one of the local hospitals. I admit all ER and OB patients. Not the hospital where Jody was born, but same city. So that means same docs... Everytime I have an OB patient of HERS, I want to scream "RUN THE OTHER WAY" to the patient. But I know I can't... it just sucks. I feel like I am keeping a horrible secret that could possibly affect these new families. This "doctor"(yeah right) has injured sooooo many babies. I wish someone had warned me about her.

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.
My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!
I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".
There is NO SUCH THING AS A DUMB QUESTION.

Marlyn,
Isn't there some way you can get information to the OB patient's re correct/helpful birthing positions without loosing you job? If you could do this "Awareness Education", I may help you feel better and/or heal yourself a bit.
...just a thought...from bossy me
Hugs all around,

I sympathize with your situation. What about doing some teaching with the nurses or residents or having someone else do it regarding bpi. I know you are in a spot with your job and don't know if people know about your child. You may not be able to help this doctor directly but make the staff involved aware of what can be done to identify people at risk and prevent injury. To me it is getting to the residents (if it is a teaching hospital) that can make a huge difference. But also the nurses at a minimum. Might make you feel a little more empowered. Might also help this doctor indirectly. Just a thought. Or maybe you just needed to vent because you are rock in a hard place. Is that the right expression?
