Amazing! St. Croix is on my list to dive some day but swimming 2 miles? What a most excellent accomplishment! This is certainly a story I'll repeat to my friends. Congrats

great job Heddi!!!!
you are awesome and should be so proud of yourself. and the hurricane too! sure didn't try to make it easy for you, huh? funny you mentioned that you could feel the pain from the barometric pressure changing. that's something i have been noticing. maybe weshould all get jobs as weathermen!
anyway, keep up the good work.
look forward to hearing about your next acomplishment!!!
cheers,
Robin

Re: 2 mile swim
A friend suggested I hire myself out to predict hurricanes. They could fly me out to tropical places, and I'd let them know if it was getting closer or going away
I want to do an Olympic or Half Ironman distance triathlon next year, but need to work on my swim form, so I'm not so tired when I get out of the water.
Does anyone know of any that have challenged divisions, besides the ones on the Challenged Athlete Foundation site?

hi heddi,
im learning a bit about the PC athlete for triathlon. there dont seem to be a lot that advertise for PC's. however, when you sign up, there is a place to indicate PC. That's what i did when i signed up for IM Lake Placid. although IM has mass starts so it doesnt really matter. getting in the water with 2000 people all swimming with 2 arms is going to be tough! I did NYC and Westchester this year, both olympic distance and both had designated PC divisions. The NYC was nautica NYC triathlon and they have a series and i believe all have a dedicated PC division. go online and look for nautica triathlons and it should get you there. NYC is the PC championships. basically i would suggest you sign up for the races that interest you and then contact the race director. New York is a hike, but it is a big PC race.
good luck!

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.
My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!
I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".
There is NO SUCH THING AS A DUMB QUESTION.
