Update - Pec and Trap transfer
Update - Pec and Trap transfer
Glynn's surgery was August 28th. He is coming along well now. He had a few problems initially. He developed anemia due to the large amount of blood loss. He required 2 separate blood transfusions 2bags each time and was soon feeling much better.
The incision is quite large - extending from the clavicle (near the throat) horizontally around the humeral head and all the way to the spine. Then from the humeral head to nearly the elbow.
The outcome - his pain is already better and he's only 10 days post op. He is taking LESS medication now than he was before the accident and his pain # is already lower then before!!!
As far as movement is concerned - at 24 hours post op the pec was firing and when Glynn pinched his hsoulder blades together his arm started external rotation.. He was severly stuck internal. To see his arm move like that after 2 years.. man I started to tear! lol
So, to all of you with shoulder stability issues or if a deltoid graft didn't take... maybe this will be the one for you too.
There's hope after failed nerve grafts or severe atrophy.
I wish all of you the best of luck and I would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
God Bless!
