It sounds like what you are really saying is that we should treat our kids like other kids but not hide the fact that they have an injury. That helping them understand what is different about them from others is could be helpful!

What is normal? Every child is unique and has individual needs whether or not they have any injury at all, a severe one, or a mild one. Since we've not had to have any surgeries, I can't see any other way of treating him. We've been to PT on and off, we were just released again for the 2nd time. My friend has a baby that was a preemie and he goes to therepy for dev. goals and speech. I figure almost all kids have some issue, ear infections, asthma, speech, ADD,the list goes on and on. So we will just treat Jacob like a normal kid and make sure all his needs are met. That's my opinion on the matter.

By the way, we're in Houston as well.
