Arthritic ?? Pain??
Arthritic ?? Pain??
Hello all,
Kath, did I get your attention???
I have finally and once again gotten to the point where my hip/back pain is making me coo-coo !! I went to the Doc, who as usual prescribed the usual "dope me up lay me flat drugs" that ONLY work because I'm passed out !!!
Now I KNOW there isn't a lot that helps my pain except what I KNOW helps my pain. TINA, DO NOT go up & down the stairs 20 x, or carry the laundry basket, or teeter on your stool reaching for that bowl on the top shelf blah blah blah. So I started researching alternative pain options and have come across something that is ACTUALLY HELPING....wooohoooo
I found an herbal supplement called Curamin to take along with my Glucosamine/Chondroiton. The health food store/naturalist/tree hugger woman said "Oh my clients swear by this" UH-HUH SURE
Well, BY HOAGIE (as Granny used to say). I took 2 pills in the morning and 2 pills at night and that first night I slept through the night. THE WHOLE NIGHT !!! AND I got out of bed and walked to the bathroom the next morning !! Didn't gimp..limp..wobble...just woke up got up and walked to the bathroom !!
Now I'm not one to believe in the herbal mumbo-jumbo very often (you who do don't beat me up here, it's just my opinion) but I went back and got a butt-load of these lil pills and are swearing by them By Hoagie !! Don't get me wrong, this is not a pain-cure-all, but for me for now they seem to be working and I just wanted to share. They may not work for anyone else, and who knows. It may be all self induced?? But as long as they work, I'll keep taking them and when and if they quit I'll move on to something else. Maybe go back to the tried and true mega Cap't & Coke nightcap :p

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.
My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!
I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

Tina
MY hips and back is too painful to pick up a butt load... LOL...
I'm gona try it and see if it works for me.
First I have to find a good earthy crunchy store near by.
I guess I should get back on G&C also...
Thanks for the tip... and stay off the chairs, counters etc. I finally broke down and bought a 4 step ladder.
It works and I don't tip so much.
I hate having short arms... or is it the fact that I'm sort too!
Thanks
Kath--- you got my attention/robpi/almost adult

Must try it too, how come the arthritis is in your hips, do you have any in your shoulders. My bones/joints crunch all the time but aren't painful yet, will try to maintain as best I can until D day!
Re: Arthritic ?? Pain??
Aurelia, Can't say my shoulder pain is from arthritis. Mainly just overuse, but I think I somehow "caught it" early enough??? I quit working about 4 years ago (per Dr. Nath's SUGGESTION) and that really seemed to ease most of my discomfort although I still cannot sleep on my left shoulder (better of the 2). Since retiring my left arm which was the most overused has returned to it's normal creaks and pops and aches, and now I'm having a few issues with my right arm. Don't know why because I barely use the dam thing?? John says it's "snow shoveling elbow" and to QUIT ! But then again, I've never been one to sit whilst other people do what I feel I can and should hahaha
I think the arthritic hip comes from 52 years of "contorting-stretching" to the right. I bend my whole body at these weird angles to get my left arm up and where I need it. SO I am quite sure that the years of doing this has not only thrown my back out of line but messed my hips up as well. I also had my plantar fascia's released in both feet which changed my walk. Funny thing is.......I find myself twisting even when I don't need to !! It's just SUCH an ingrained thing in my mind that I do it without thinking. Such as when I'm on my step stool and ABLE to reach something I have to consciously think NOT to twist....... I guess it's my age, but the pops and cruches just get louder with every passing year. So even though I have overused my arms all my life, the toll I've taken on other parts of my body is just as severe, if you can believe that.
HAPPY ST. PAT'S DAY TO YOU ALL..........

Re: Arthritic ?? Pain??
YEP, TinaT, that's me too. Most of my Pains and arthrititis is from my own "contorting"...especialy puting on that darn strechable Girdlefor many years in those dark ages of 1950's and early '60's!
I do remember how I did it using one hand & I eremember the pain and exhaustion from doing that but of course I ignored al that and keep running at 200%!-had to be as good, fast, better etc, etc as everyone one else!
I am paying for it now.
HUGS,
Carolyn J

Re: Arthritic ?? Pain??
I’ve been taking glucosamine chondroitin for a few weeks and its really helping with joint pain. I feel about 10 years younger!:)
I found this post from last year and was wondering if it was still working for you guys that have been taking it for a while?
