non BPI problem with Jade (sleep)
non BPI problem with Jade (sleep)
I don't know who else to ask about health problems so may i please ask this question? Most of you remember that Jade had surgery in sept for mod quad. Well she never slept the whole time she was in the splint becouse of the pain. well in oct. we got her back on scedule for sleep. she sleeped a normal night and one normal nap each day.(Jade does have night terrors but has always had them). 2 weeks ago we noticed that Jade is ALWAYS tired. she goes to bed at 9:30 she sleeps till 10:00 the next day. then by 1:00 she is tired again.she has a 3 to 4 hour nap then wakes up. CHris and i have noticed even then she acts tired and LOOKS tired. Her eyes are horrible all the time. plus Jade never pooped in her diaper while she was asleep.know its the only time she poops. she is never in a good mood either. THe dr. says she fine. i would believe her but CHris is even woried too. we also have to wake her up alot too becouse she would sleep till noon. could day light savings have messed her up that much or are we dealing with something more. ANY help would be great. thank you Crystal

I don't have any answers, Crystal, but I'll keep Jade in my prayers. Could she be going through an extended growth spurt? Is she losing weight? Perhaps you could ask your pediatrician for a referral...but I don't know to what kind of specialist. Ask your pediatrician how long you should expect Jade to remain "tired" until you see a specialist. I hope this resolves itself.

I think I would find a different doctor, at least just to get a second opinion!!! She may be just stressed out but maybe she's anemic or something. Has the doc done a blood test to check her blood count? I have had friend who's daughter slept alot but she always did from birth.
My oldest son(now 18) had night terrors and nap terrors!! He grew out of it around age 3. Good luck to you with little Jade.

I believe I would be checking with another physician or insisting that he do some testing on Jade. Have you checked for swollen lymph nodes or nodules in her neck, arm pits or groin areas? The growth spurts may make her tired for awhile but this sounds like it is a bit overmuch. Start keeping a random check for low grade fevers. How is her appetite? I really don't mean to sound so concerned but as a parent I know how worrisome this stuff can be. does she have allergies? Sometimes this can make them tired and look "peaked" in the eye area. katie has done this a couple of times for a day or two and like clockwork as soon as the dr says he thinks it is a viral thing she will come down with a cold. But it usually only lasts a few days. katie has the night terrors as well, but you know the experts say that this is not what it really is in an infant! I think we can tell them better.
Please keep us posted and we will be thinking of your family.
