OPINIONS ON KINESIO
OPINIONS ON KINESIO
Jody's OT suggested taping today. He has excema and is pretty sensitive to adhesive. I know about the milk of magnesia. Any other tips, warnings, opinions?

Re: OPINIONS ON KINESIO
I would say try it once, if Jody reacts take the tape off and dont do that again! I personally love how the tape has worked for me, it can be like night and day.
Good luck!!! I hope his skin will allow for the tape!

Re: OPINIONS ON KINESIO
We used kinesiotape for a while but had to stop because of excema flareups. We tried it again about a year later just to see how it would work. Big mistake. It took forever for his skin to heal. This was with the milk of magnesia also.
It seems to work pretty well for the people who can tolerate it. Unfortunately, it seems like those people are in the minority.

Re: OPINIONS ON KINESIO
Tape worked great on Joshua for about a year... and then he suddenly started reacting to it and now can't use it anymore. I really really want to know what is in the adhesive! I wonder if it will predispose him towards reactions to other adhesives like in bandages/etc. That could be very NOT good.
I did love how it worked while it worked. Bummer...

Re: OPINIONS ON KINESIO
Just wanted to say that we used it on my son as well and he also reacted to it over time. I think we had the Milk of Mag but use Skin So Soft from Avon more to help remove the tape.
I don't recall it doing a lot for him but it was a long time ago.

Re: OPINIONS ON KINESIO
Just attended the Cincinnati Children's bpi conference and the company that makes the tape is supposed to be changing the adhesive on it to make it more user friendly for medical purposes-i.e. easier to remove, and less reactions hopefully. It is supposed to be coming within this next month. Let you all know, our therapist is checking on it for us.
Re: OPINIONS ON KINESIO
We're looking into theratogs for Aria because she, also, had a bad reaction to the adhesive. I'm wondering if it's because of the amount of time the adhesive stays in contact with the skin. (She doesn't have a reaction until the 3rd day or so.)
