External Rotation Splint

Has anyone used a splint to maintain or improve external rotation (other than post-op)? Were you happy with the results?

We have used kinesio tape from the wrist, up the forearm and upper arm and ending at the scapula, rotating around the arm outward. It helps with both supination and external rotation, especially in ball throwing. Please let me know if you need more detail.
