Any dads around?

Post by admin »

Greetings all,

I normally lurk around these forums. My wife is more active here than I am. I usually just read to find what she's saying.

Are there any other dads around or is it mostly mothers?

Also, I do have a log-in, but I can't remember it. There needs to be a "Forgot my login" functionality on the register section.

Sure, there are other dad's around here. Some who post, others don't. Welcome to the boards. I am assuming that no one else replied because of your comment about "just checking to see what your wife says". I might have taken it the wrong way- but it sounds like spying??? Maybe she comes to the boards to vent to other moms, not necesarily to hide things from you.

Oh, I'm not spying on her. I know she doesn't hide anything from me; I hear it all.

Plus, there are things here that I can't give. I can only support her so much, but I'm not a mom who can relate to mommy type things involved with this injury.

It's more like I read the responses from others about her inquiries.

I just think mothers are effected more from this injury than fathers. After all, mothers carry the child for 9 months and they go through the tramatic event too. Fathers are mostly around for the ride. Oh yes, we're there for the birth, holding her hand coaching her through, but it's not the same.

I was just wondering if there are other fathers lurking.

I would hope husbands don't need to spy on their wives. If that's the case, there are bigger problems to attend to.

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.
Location: New York

Tom
Welcome to the message boards. I think it's great that you read and now post. I bet there are quite a few fathers out there reading. Fathers are so important to all children and with bpi children it is great to have the fathers participating. I know that my father gave me a spirit of adventure and my Mom was more worried about me getting hurt again. I guess he gave me the confidence to try things that were a little daring.

Tom, Welcome to the boards. My husband though an involved parent since my son was two......when we got out of the military...doesn't post or even lurk. For him to read it, it has to be printed out and placed on his pillow...LOL !! I think you are right about the "MOMMY" issue and agree whole heartedly....Again, Welcome Gayle mom of Brandon ROBPI 7 1/2
