Insurance Question

Post by DeShawn »

My hubby's company is switching insurance carriers next month. We are not thrilled about it, but what choice do we have. They are offering the choice of 3 new carriers. All of them are HMO's. They are Pacificare, Atena, and Cigna. If any of you have experience with either of these carriers please let me know good or bad. I am at a loss really because it seems that they all offer basically the same benefits. I am not sure how HMO's deal with our kids since I'll now have to get referrals for everything. Anything you can share would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I deal with Pacificare at work (medical billing) and we hate them. Their provider network is also smaller because they don't usually pay the doctors as much as the others. I have no input as to how the other 2 are about BPI related therapy, surgery, etc.

Deshawn- From my personal experience - Aetna SUCKS!!!

But- keep looking up info. I have also heard that Aetna has helped many BPI patients. Best of luck with your choice.

Aetna has MANY types of policies and we have NEVER had a problem with our Aetna policy. They always paid without question and even paid for our airfare and hotel.

For DeShawn, call up your bpi specialists' billing department and ask them who they have the least problems with.
