Interesting Books
Awhile back someone had recommended the "Out-of-Sync Child" as a good read. I have two more to add to the list that have SAVED MY SANITY.
The first is "The Fussy Baby Book" by Dr. Sears, the second is "The Sensitive Child". If any of you have an overly "needy" child, "high maintenance" child, or a child is mostly miserable, these could be a missing link for you (sorry to use the labels). My OBPI daughter was a handful...literally (she had to be held 24/7. She would dissolve if you said "no" or in any way criticized her in the slightest..."we don't yell" would send her running to her room, slamming the door shut behind her while she cried inside...all this at just 18 months. At 2.5 if we speak to loudly she will cover her ears and say "slow down".
The Dr. Sears book opened my eyes to a whole new world of possibilities that did not include bad parenting on my part. The other book gave me some insights in how to have better success parenting my toddler and help bridge the gap between the type of parent I thought I should be and the type of parent my child needs. They are the only books that I've managed to read cover to cover in the past 2.5 years.
Happy reading if this applies to you.
