When I found UBPN, I was "mamaoftwo" and now I am a mother of three! I found UBPN in desperation to talk to anyone that could slightly relate to what I was going through after my son, Cameron, suffered a brachial plexus injury in 2005. My first post was when Cameron was only nine weeks old. I was relieved to see how many people responded! We were facing his first surgery and I didn't know what to think or do. In June, 2008, when Cameron was three months old, he had primary nerve graft surgery. I asked his specialist if we could wait until Cameron was older and his response was "Time is muscle". Having his surgery was the best decision we could have made. He had a global injury with two avulsions, two ruptures and the only in-tact nerve was severely stretched. Since then, Cameron has had several rounds of Botox. Cameron is now six years old and he has surpassed the expectations of his specialists. We are so very proud of him! He freely speaks about his injury to his friends and classmates, and doesn't let his injury define him.
