Join the UBPN Family Tree!

Post by richinma2005 »

Our Camp Arts and Crafts fundraising project, one that anyone can participate in whether you are coming to camp or just want to be a part of it from home.

It's called our Family Tree project! We have a very big family here, we send out over 5000 OUTREACH to our family and we are hoping that you guys will show up big for this project.

We have produced diecuts of several evergreen tree patterns (to match our UBPN Camp 2007 theme).

You can sponsor a tree for only $1 per tree. Funds raised will help to support the arts and crafts at Camp. The evergreen trees will be decorated by children at camp during the arts & crafts sessions.

Children will carry the trees into the closing event of Camp, creating a virtual forest. As we did at the last Camp, we will recite the name of each sponsor, along with the sponsor’s city and state.

Why not sponsor a tree for every member ofyour family?

Send your check to UBPN at 1610 Kent St., Kent, OH 44240
or you can pay via PayPal (www. paypal.com) by indicating donation@ubpn.org in the email address requested on that site.

Include in the comment section who the sponsors are, your city and state, and let us know if the donation is being made in honor of someone. We will include all information on the back of the evergreen tree. If you like, you can personalize the tree by sending in a photo that can be incorporated into the tree itself (face pic).

Hope to see everyone in the trees!

I printed this page and hung it up at work and with in minutes my coworkers signed up and gave me the money for 3 leaves. I hope to have quite a few, between family and friends.

Thank you all for the support and Priscilla, I love your idea and think it might be a very fun way to build our forest.

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.

My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!

I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".

My eldest son has written a letter to our family and friends about his 5 year old sister's BPI, about our visit to camp this year and about UBPN and has asked for $1 donations for trees. He did this on his own as a service project. In two days he has handed a letter to everyone who has walked through our front door and has collected $11 already! He even gave them out to the boys who attended his 13th birthday party tonight. He plans to mail his letter to far away friends tomorrow. My husband put up a copy of the letter on his office door and received about 20 $1 bills taped to his door! People are happy to help, and the support feels great. Spreading the word really works!!

I think this is a great idea to send a letter out to family/friends. I also cut the page out, taped it to some green paper, highlighted it, and posted it on the door at work on the L&D unit where I work. I'm thinking that I'll ask my son if he wants to write a letter to family/friends/etc. as one of his Boy Scout projects as well. Great ideas everyone!

Hey Rich....it's Courtney's mom, Shelley. I was wondering about having some of the trees here that I could sell some at my office in the state building. I thought it may go farther if I could fill them in here and display them so other social workers could see them and ignite something. If you want to send me one I can make copies so it's less work on you guys or if you want to send me some. Whatever. I'd just like to help........like all the ideas of the other replies......thx......Shelley

Hi Shelley,

All of the tree cutouts are in the Seattle area with our camp coordinator. I am sure she will read this and let you know. It's not a bad idea-kind-ve like how they show shamrocks and stuff at restuarants. Maybe she could send a copy of the die she used and instructions on making them. Karen?
