Prayers for a speedy recovery. And best of luck. Hope things progress well for you. Dustin is thinking of having the gracillis transfer in early to middle summer.
Keep us informed of how things progress.

I wish you well and am curious what they did for you with avulsion. Did they transfer from the right side? Any muscle graphs? How long did they say you'd wait for any 'new sensation/movement'? Had my surgery Jan. 4th & the waiting is the hardest part at times. Have a safe ride back to Michigan. Looks like we may have snow for Easter:)

Good luck to you from another Michigander a Yooper from Marquette. We're in the middle of a blizzard warning. Hope you beat the storm. Just when my flowers started to show their lovely heads. My son Don had a TLBPI four years ago this month. He avulsed C3 through T1 or so we were told. He fractured every bone in his neck and upper back, as well as three ribs. We almost lost him and are every day he is alive. He was in a 4 wheeler accident. He was seen in Ann Arbor 6 months after his injury and was told little could be done for him not recommending surgery. He pretty much gave up after that. We read about Dr. Elkwood of NJ on line and went to see him in January. We were quite impressed. He said he would be able to transfer a shrug muscle to help abduct his upper arm away from his body. Then he would transfer another muscle to allow some elbow bending. He would fuse the wrist because he is able to move his fingers almost into a slight fist. His biggest problem is the unending pain. We just got an appointment at Mayo's. He will go May 15-17. Then he will decide what to have done if anything. What type of surgery did you have? How long since your injury? Where is Owosso? I'm pretty new to these boards. My son is 29 and is a carpenter. I know all the parents that read these boards share the pain of seeing our childrens pain day in and day out. There wasn't a day in two years I didn't cry. I felt guilty for my tears because it could have been so much worse. We could have lost him. He never complains and is working every day trying to get back to his chosen career as a carpenter. It's not the disability it's the pain that keeps him down. I'm sorry for going on and on. It's the only place I know where the people all know what you're really talking about, and care. Thank you for listening. Good luck in your recovery. I would really like to hear your story. I'm a better listener than writer. Diane C
