Low Carbs? (non-BPI)
Low Carbs? (non-BPI)
Anyone here doing the low carb diet?
I've been on it for 3 weeks, limiting myself to no more than 30 carbs a day. (i never reach it though!) I also have been walking/jogging 4 times a week. I can take my favorite "fat jeans" off and on without unbuttoning them!!
YAY!

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

I am so happy for you.
My husband and I went on it... he lost 40 lbs. I lost 16 then never went back on it again... Lazy.
I walk everyday and use the Hot Tub for ROM...
Keep up the good work.
Exercise and changing eating habits work well and put us back in shape.
He never gained the weight back.
That was two years ago.

Mandie,
I went on low carb when I was pregnant because I had gestational diabetes. I was only allowed 30 TOTAL carbs a day. I did nothing else different & lost 35 lbs in 3 months! I only wish I could be disiplined enough to stick with it now!
Good Luck!!

I started going to Weight Watchers a few weeks ag o and i am down 10.5 lbs! YEAH! This is a great program as it teaches you portion control and about changing your eating habits. You can eat whatever you want, with in your point range. I think its the best thing out there. I never had the courage to do the low carb thing, I LOVE bread and potatoes!! Keep up the good work!

Ya, I can only have 30 carbs total per day..but i never make it to 30. My weakness is ice cream! I buy that carb solutions brand....2 carbs for 1/2 cup!
THe first week it was HORRIBLE and i still get tempted, but i dont cheat! It is hard because this is cajun country and everything here is full of carbs! Rice with everything.... What makes me stay on it is my kids...diabetes and high blood pressure run in my family and i do NOT want those problems!

Mandie,
I did the low carb thing and lost a ton of weight, had alot to loose, the problem is once you go off, watch out. I might try it again, but not till after the holidays....that would be suicide for me and torture for my family !

Mandie,
You are a hoot! Give me good ol' cajun cookin' anytime! I love it. What's the matto..."Eat good and die young!"? From time to time, it's okay. The rest of the time I can try to be a good girl.
I'm a wannabe Rajun Cajun!

Re: Low Carbs? (non-BPI)
How funny! I just started the Low-carb thing again. Today. It was pretty easy. I just feel a little strange. lol I lost 25 lbs last year from Halloween till Christmas. I gained it back though. Whoops. I want to lose a lot, but I also want to make it a lifestyle. I have a sister who has used WW and lost a lot. She likes WW, and is always trying to get me to try it to. I just dont have the time for the meetings. But, I know that the best thing for weight loss is to be accountable to someone. Maybe we can start a support group online???? I know as a Mom, I always take care of everyone else first, so it feels good to focus on ME a little. He He he
Good luck to all!!!!!!
