Update and hemi-sling
Update and hemi-sling
Hi, I haven't been back to the site for several months. I had my ski accident Jan. 03 and had an axillary nerve transfer 13 months ago. My progress has been great so far. I now have use of most of the muscles in my arm - biceps, triceps, forearm flexors and am now starting to see some deltoid. My infraspinatus, supraspinatus and rhomboids were avulsed from the muscle end so there not doing anything. On my last emg my biceps and triceps registered as normal! The deltoid just registered minor activity but before there was none. I can now hold my wrist up without wearing a brace! My shoulder used to sublux all the time by about an inch or more. It now stays in the socket all the time. So overall I'm thrilled with my progress and am appartus free!
Which brings me to one of the reasons why I'm posting I have couple of wrist braces and two hemi-slings that are in excellent condition that I would like to give to someone who could use them. The hemi-sling's are quite different from each other but both are called hemi-slings.
I used this one in the early stages of my injury. This link shows what it is basically like but not exactly. It is very adjustable in size.

Later I switched to a different type which allowed me more use of the arm since I was getting muscle use back. I wore one out and had just gotten a new one and then the muscles started working again so its like new. It is a left small. Here's the link for the this hemi-sling. This one is exactly the same as the one pictured.

Re: Update and hemi-sling
Hi Lorrie,
This is great news, I hope the deltoids come back strong too. It's good to hear a success story while you are waiting for some results from your own surgery. Keep up the good work and stop by more often....Karl....
