Re: Torticollis / Brachial Plexus

<t>My daughter has been diagnosed with Horner's Syndrome as well. There has been some discussion of this before on the boards. Generally , one eye is smaller looking than the other and sometimes the eyelid is droopy. We never really noticed the difference in our daughter's eyes except in pictures. I...

Re: Frustrated !!!!

<t>Our daughter had similar injuries with primary at 5 months and mod quad at 12 months. We saw immediate improvement in arm movement(especially lifting up over the head)right after mod quad, but it took quite a long time before we saw any bicep gains. I would say 7-12 months post mod-quad, we began...

Re: Help selecting a BPI Clinic/Specialist

<t>Hi Tammy, what part of TN are you in? We live near Knoxville and have flown to Houston 4 times for our daughter's 2 surgeries and for a conference. We also were able to get discounts from the airlines for almost all of our flights by the way. My 3 year old daughter had both her surgeries at TCH (...

info needed on Dynasplints

<t>My 2 year old daughter has a very slight contracture of her elbow (in fact, you really only notice it when she puts her arm up over her head). After reviewing a video of her, Dr. Nath recommended using a dynasplint at night. Before I talk to our therapist about it, I just wanted to get some more ...

wrist tendon transfer

<t>My daughter is 2 years old and we just heard back from Dr. Shenaq after he reviewed a video of her and an EMG and CT scan. He is suggesting a wrist tendon transfer. I would love to hear from anyone who has experienced this. What were the functional gains from the surgery? What was the surgery and...

Re: BPI arm is cooler

My daughter's arm is always cooler as well. I have also noticed that her arm will turn bright red after being out in the sun for a while. She has never gotten sunburned before though--we try to put on 50 sunscreen especially on that arm.

Re: C-4 used for nerve graft

<t>Hi Allison,<br/> Grace had her surgery on the same day as Bradley for their primary and the doctor used the C-6 for her nerve graft. We were told that her C-6 was the best conductor and that was why it was chosen for the graft. I have always wondered about that too as it seems many other children...

Re: 3D CT on an 8 week old

<t>My daughter, Grace had an EMG at 3 months old. We tried to distract her with a bottle, toys, sucker, etc. We held her in our lap and they poked her with the needles. She did cry some, however, I do not think that she had that much feeling in her arm at that time, so it was not as traumatic as it ...

Re: help for weak wrist extendors?

<t>Hi, Grace can actively both flex her hand up at the wrist and also extend her hand down at the wrist, but this is somewhat weaker. I am not sure either what the Dr's mean by wrist extensors. From vieweing our video, the TCH dr's just noted that she seemed to have weak wrist extensors and that is ...
