Re: Ian is thriving!
<t>Null,<br/> Do not beat yourself up over "what if's". Nothing good can come of that. As parents we can only do our best and our best is never perfect. It shows what a great Mom you are when you stress over the heavy decisions that lay before you. Our children are magical, you will always do the ri...

Ian is thriving!
<t>I have not posted in quite a while, but i just had to brag... Ian is doing SO well after the Mod Quad. He can touch the top of his head, to some that is not a big deal, but he couldn't move his arm AT ALL before surgery. His internal rotation is gone and he has good supination. His poor little ha...

Re: scarring after surgery
<t>My son is 14 months old and has had 2 surgeries thus far (needing several more). I have to tell you that his scars look FABULOUS. You will not even see them as he grows. They look red and ugly at first, but the plastic surgeons do a really nice job. If you do decide on surgical intervention, do N...

Re: Bending the arm
I wish I lived near you... I live in Mesa AZ. Thanks for the info... I will see what I can do. I have seen so much progress from the Mod Quad, but we have to get that arm to bend somehow...

Re: Surgery: Unasked Questions From a Young Child
<t>wow that was powerful... kinda sad, huh? Kids see things differently than we do, that is for sure. When Ian came home from the primary surgery, Ashley, my 6 yr old went NUTS... she thought they cut off his arm because it was under his clothes, we laugh about that now, but it never occurred to me ...

Bending the arm
<t>I am so amazed at the progress we have seen from the mod quad! Ian is now lifting his arm up and out to the side! He could not do ANYTHING before. I would give Dr. Shenaq a great big kiss if he were here!!!! The one problem area is his elbow... he cannot bend his arm and it is painful for him whe...

Re: Please pray for me and my baby.
<t>You have our thoughts and prayers too. I firmly believe that you are in the BEST possible place and that you will get the best care. Drs Nath and Shenaq have both operated on my little Ian and his scars are VERY minimal, and more importantly, he is progressing. Without surgeries, he has no hope o...

Re: Layne - are you home yet? How is Ian doing?
<t>Yes it is nice to be home. Ian is on Ceftin (antibiotic) and he will be splinted constantly for 3 weeks and then at night for 3 weeks. We have gotten some pretty funny looks so far. Some people in the airport even laughed, but that just shows how ignorant they are, most people feel sorry for him ...

Re: Layne - are you home yet? How is Ian doing?
<t>We are home! The surgery went well. Dr. Shenaq performed it and he was pleased. They were not sure that they were gonig to do the full mod quad, but once they got in there they decided to. He recovered pretty well, minimal pain, but he did get a fever after we got home, we are worknig to get it d...
