41 year old female from Nashville, left dislocated shoulder, chipped bone, and BPI. My black lab knocked my legs out from under me on July 2, 2003, 8 pm. Can lift arm above head, elbow in good shape, but wrist/hand are screwed up. Hoping to get an appointment wit Drs. Klein or Tiel. Yes, I still have the lab.

Hi I live in California originally from NS, Canada, I seem to be the only one on this site from the west coast. A lot of east coasters. I'm a 40 year old female. I was in a ski accident 1-27-03. Along with a bunch of other injuries (some life threatening) I have a left bpi injury. Initially the entire arm and hand were flail but slowly some use has come back - hand first, then bicep. No avulsions luckily. The radial nerve, suprascapular nerve and the axillary showed little or no improvement. I was referred to Dr. Hentz at the Stanford Hand and Upper Extremity Clinic. On 8-18-03 I had surgery which included cleaning out a lot of scar tissue around radial nerve and a 10 cm nerve graft of the axillary nerve. I may be having a 2nd surgery next month for the suprascapular nerve- depends on results of emg next week. He couldn't get at it because of my position on the operating table. My surgery went great - no complications. Won't know for a few months if the graft was succesful but hopefully will start seeing some improvement in other areas a little sooner. From the research I've done Dr. Hentz is the go to guy for bpi in this area, but I've been surprised to see that no one has mentioned him on this sight. So far my experiences with him have been excellent - he is informative, doesn't pull the punches but is caring, highly respected and specializes in bpi injuries!!! Has had hundreds of adult patients according to his stats. Just wondering if any of you have had dealings with him. He is listed on this site as one of the specialists but other then that, haven't seen anybody else refer to him.

Hi everyone! I don't know what you would call us! We were posting for awhile but then we moved last year and things just went crazy! I'm back now and I'm sorry it's been so long! I've been going through my own problems along with Jason's. Some of you might remeber us. We are the young couple in a motorcycle accident in AZ two years ago today and Jason lost his left arm. I have some news that I want to share with everyone! Please read my posting, I would like some feedback!

Hi Christy
My name is Susan (aka punchy sue) I also live in VA Beach. I recieved LTBPI 2 1/2 months ago on 45 1/2 St. You can still see the paint circle on the ground if your drivimg towards Shore Drive on Atlantic. I also tried to get an appointment with Dr. Tervis and they told me she doesn't take insurance. Just to have a consultation with her was $3200 and probably two surgeries at $60,000 each. That is such bullshit. I just had a consult with Dr. Eric Zager in Philly and have another one with Dr Alan Friedman at Duke. I am so lost and on my last leg. I hope you have better luck then me!
