I'm searching for information on Erbs palsey. My daughter just gave birth to the first granddaughter on 3-17-02 and since the oxygen level was a concern they kept her from the baby for the first two days, we didn't notice that her right shoulder/arm was just dangling since she had an i.v. and oxygen monitor. I remember thinking back that when it went off the nurse had reached down to the one arm...we went to the doctor's office for a visit and they said it is erbs palsey, and had done x-rays to see if it was out of the socket. I know she(Patty my daughter) had a really hard time delivering her, she was exhausted and they pulled the baby out after the head was through. She was 36 1/2 weeks and was due on 4/10/02. She had pregnancy diabetes and the baby had weighted 8 lbs 15 oz. The nurse said this is not uncommon and that the nerve going down her arm was just stretched out and it will be fine...but stumbling through this web page, I am not so certain at this point. COULD YOU PLEASE EMAIL US AND GIVE US ANY SITES, OR INFORMATION YOU CAN ABOUT THIS...WHAT TO EXPECT...IS IT TEMPORARY...OR ANY KIND OF INFORMATION. Thanks! Penny and Patty

Brittney weighed 10# 3oz, 21-1/2", the last ultrasound done was at 17 weeks - doc didn't feel a need for another one after that - although he knew the baby would be big.

Sabrina was a scheduled C-sect - also big baby

I am 51 years old, left OBPI. My mother was a diabetic.
I weighed 10 lbs. at birth. I was always told that was the reason for the OBPI. No lawsuits...moms were frequently "put out" in those days and didn't remember the birth...no dad allowed...what are videotapes?...
they only had the doctor's stories to go by and you know they weren't blaming themselves, so....
