Dear Friends, I am writing from Italy. I had an injury in August 2001. Just came back from hospital after surgery. I had no avulsion, but the nerves waere broken by the bones in the shoulder. I could not lift the arm, but hand is working well. The doctor cut the nerves and directly sew them.He said I have to wait now. Will start phys.therapy in a short time. I'm 30 years old.

A friend of mine had the same problem of ours 10 years ago. Now after surgery and years of therapy, he recovered all. He uses kites, snowboard and run on mountain bikes.

Well, good luck to you all!

Bye from Italy.

My Dr. was Dachling Pang He worked out of the University of Pittsburgh at that time. He is in California now. I have been trying to track him down for about a month now...Called him but he has not returned my call. In 1985 he was the best around the Pittsburgh NEast area- so I was told... I am amazed at the success rate I see here as far as recovery is concerned. Makes me jealous. I remember the DR saying that my nerves looked like a plate of spaghetti -- once he was able to find them through all the scarring tissue. As far as the atrophy...there is some...I still move the joints around - not as much as the OT or PT people say, but I have tried to move on...
