Hi Lenny,
I am pleased with most of the results. I was also pleased with Dr. Shenaq and Dr. Roth.(you will meet Dr. Roth i think at the surgery.) I had higher hopes for the first surgery than them I think. I still don't have suppination. However I gained a great deal of ROM. They were very thourough and professional. I had some problems with the hospital when it came to my splint, and Dr. Roth and Angel, Dr. Shenaq's assistant, called or visited continously to make sure I was O.K. to fly back to Phoenix. I have not contacted them regarding more surgery of anything to help further. I do reccommend him and his staff. If there is anything I can answer for you, please feel free to email or post a message. (I will respond quicker through email.) Good luck to your son and you as you make this decision. I absolutly reccommend it and don't regret it one bit.

Brian

dear all

my name is Anouk and I'm from Belgium. I accidentally came accross your site where this topic drew my attention. I've been living with a brachial plexus injury for over 25 years now (as from my birth) and as somebody said in this topic at a certain point you just think that nothing can be done anymore at this problem. I've always handeled this problem by myself and try to cope with it and accept myself the way I am but it's not easy because you start living on a planet and nobody really understands your worries. Even if people are close to you you can't really express what you feel and think. The last couple of years it has been hard to handle myself. That is why for the first time I took the initiative to go look on the Internet wheither there were no forums to talk with people who are in the same situation. And it took me 5 days to decide that Iwould really post a reaction on this topic. I don't know why it took me so long, I might have chickened out there for a moment. But I really hope that we could all discuss our problems. Even though I live on the other site of the world, the feeling we have are international

I am so glad you decided to post. It does not matter where you live we have people posting from all over the world. Scotland, AU, UK, Italy, NZ, and of course me from New York. You are very welcome here.
I am 64 and Right OBPI (birth injured). I only found others 5 years ago and it sounds silly but I was overjoyed to meet other who understood what I was talking about. And of course someone who allowed me to complain and really understood the many frustrations we face daily. I also have lived with my injury and just did what I had to do but its nice to have others who understand.
If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me or just post them people are always happy to help here.

Dear Anouk,
Welcome to these Boards! I am 66 yrs. old and LOBPI. I learned a name for what we have only 3 yrs. ago.As others, I always thought that I was the only one & had a lifetime of struggles. However, it made me a strong & persistent person and motivated me to achieve no matter how difficult the venture. When I found these Boards(I read them all) I found sooo much helpful and practical information besides all of the support from the others who come here. PLEASE come back & ask any question, pick my brain, and also it's a good safe place to vent our frustrations too. I believe your experiences are very helpful to the rest of us too. It is still my favorite way to learn...by sharing information from those who live it all.
Hope to hear from you soon,
Carolyn J

I just started reading the postings and was surprised to see someone else with an old bpi. Mine was as a result from a car accident in 1987 that put me in a coma for 33 days.
I have regained most everything except for the full mobility of my right arm and cannot raise it up past halfway. I am now looking into the possibility of repairing it after all this time. Can they still do a nerve tranplant 27 years later?

Hello Ray, Welcome to UBPN Message Boards. I hope you have gone to the Adult Traumatic BPI Board & General Board also. There is a wealth of information there as well as sharing/support. The RESOURCE link on UBPN's homepage has great medical information & then I highly recommend Dr. Nath's website (Specialist in all BPInjuries and Surgeon)....
Keep coming back, there is NO such thing as a stupid question on any of the Forum Boards.
