Yes, I am lobpi with injury to the C5 - deltoid, very limited in raising the arm to the front and side, couldn't touch my head ect. Yet, I was riding and showing English both on the flat and jumping competitively from 6 years old to 15 years old. I did a few national and international competitions as well.
I also started water skiing at 14 years old and got up the first time I went out. I have been swimming since 4 yrs old. And I have to tell you I am completely a spaz with no natural abilities in sports! So how I did these things I will never know but think my parents the bravest in the world for having me try. Suzy

I am 18 and rode english growing up and loved it (i wish i still had the time to ride), my friends never noticed or said anything about my BP arm. I got really into waterksiing this summer becuase i love snow skiing, but again i had no problem learning how, i even learned how to hold on with one hand when my left one got tired. I belibeve that if you put your mind to it anything is possible. If you have any questions feel free to ask i'll be more then will to share me experiences with sports growing up! -With love Sierra

My daughter, (Lauren 9 yrs old) r-obpi has tried both. The horse riding has been on trails with some trotting. But it was her ability to hang on tightly, with one hand, while going up and down hills that impressed me. We take our family horse back riding 2x a year on our vacations, and Lauren has rode herself since she was 5, when the stabbles allow. Of course I worry, I'm Mom. But to see her smile and giggle and have such fun, washes the worry away. As for water skiing...she tried it when she was 8. She was determined to try, because all the other kids were doing it. Unfortunatly she was dragged underwater for a bit before letting go of the rope, and that was it for waterskiing. However, she has been tubing and knee boarding for quite sometime. We have since, bought new "kid skis" and a trainer ski rope, but she has yet to try them out. If and when she's ready, we are to.
