Dear Guest
While you may think that right hand no excuses works for your child - it does not for everyone. It would be impossible for me to feed myself with my right hand and the doctors told my parents to force me to do it... if one cannot supinate we cannot drink from a glass nor hold a fork properly. I use both hands when I can for anything but forcing someone to use and arm that is mostly paralyzed just causes more frustration.
This I know from experience.... and there is nothing I cannot do but must decide for myself which hand will and can preform the necessary task. I write with right obpi hand (painful school forced experience) I cannot raise it to write on the blackboad but I can write on a black board with my left hand.
When I do not use my right hand for something it is because I can't never as an excuse. Once my parents realized that there were something things I would never be able to do right handed they allowed me to find my way - explore and use both hands... in fact my mother gave me assigned tasks for each hand so that I would not let my right hand just hang ( those of us with serious injury often forget we have a hand/arm) I iron right handed, cut my food with my right hand - eat left handed - developed small motor cordination in both hands... I can paint with left or right hand... but draw with only robpi... for most obpi we use both hands
