Null,

My story is similar to yours. We thought for sure Caleb would have to have the primary. But at his 6 month check they suddenly found that he had triceps and they wanted to give him more time before primary. We were then followed month to month with surgery as a possible until he was almost 10 months. It was then decided that he had recovered enough to no longer need the primary. He had a surgery similar to the MOD at Stanford last December and this December is scheduled for a muscle transfer to promote finger extension.

Hugs,

Kari

I have a 11 month old daughter who suffered a LOBI at birth and she has had 2 EMGs done. The first one was at 4 months of age. I was told by the neurologist that she had 50% return and it would get better as time went on. So st the recommendation of the neuologist(who was not an advocate for surgery),I waited and waited and noticed that she got alitte more movement in her fingers and shoulder but very little change in her wrist and elbow. So at 11 months old, She had another EMG done and I am being told that there has been no improvement from the first EMG performed months ago. How can that be if she has more movement now then she had at 4 months of age?

EMG's are hard, and not always accurate. There was some flaring, and static, but not good. His movements that he does show did not show on the EMG. It is hard to put a kid through pain and discomfort. He had 2 EMG's. One at 3 month's and one just before his surgery in August. He is now 8 months old. I wish you luck with your baby, I still hate it when doctors are still doing this to our kids!
