Not sure how getting other opinions is going to cause heart ache. Even if he does suggest surgery she probably would want to get another opinion and that goes for whatever doctor you are seeing. Multiple opinions can't hurt anyone rather they take your insurance or not. If you find that several doctors feel the same way and only one takes your insurance so you go to that one at least you have a little comfront and knowing that other doctors felt that same way. Just my thought.

I would definitely recommend getting multiple opinions, but only from surgeons with whom you could afford to follow up. What's the point of getting an opinion from a surgeon if there's no possibility of following up on his recommendations? Dr. Nath doesn't do the same set of procedures that other surgeons do; he's highly unlikely to recommend a surgery that you could just do somewhere else. He obviously feels his unique approach is best, and a parent is likely to hear his extensive reasons on why doing a surgery anywhere else or with anyone else is a BAD idea and why his approach is superior. Why put yourself through that if you can't go that route?

I guess I will only say that I disagree since Nath and Kozin have agreed together on what needed or actually what did not need to be done on my daughter. Nath has also referred us to other doctors for problems he felt he was not able to fix and they where. That includes going to other BPI specialist so I quess our experience is a little different then yours. I am assuming you are talking from experience with all the doctors. I don't want to start a war on doctors so I will end it hear but I feel just get as many opinions as you can and there maybe some you have to pay out of pocket for but it can't hurt.

How is the search for information going?? Hope you are finding the answers that you need. Have you contacted your insurance company to see if any of the other doctors are an option? My daughter saw the Brachial Plexus team at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. They were wonderful!!! (Just another option for you)

Maybe if you described the extent of her injury or what her return is more people on this board can help you.
Can she raise her arm over her shoulder? Can she grasp items with her hand?

Hi Ashley. How is Kaitlyn? I know it's been more than a month and I would like to know how she is. My greatest hope and prayers are for the children of this plight to suffer no pain. I know how debilitating it can be for a 6' - 245lb crybaby like myself. I don't want to imagine how it can be for a child.
If you feel like it please let me(us) know?
