John's Mayo clinic video
I recently received a copy of the video from Ellen and mailed it to my parents in New York. Ellen wants to keep this video in circulation to help others out there with similar injuries and questions about the doctors at Mayo. If you would like to see the video let me know and I will have my parents mail it to you. Please do us all a favor though and be careful with it, watch it quickly and get it either back to Ellen or out to another that can use it.
First come first serve so let me know soon. thanks

More specificly, what is the content of the video about the Mayo Doctors? If they treat adults, I would be interested in viewing it. I live nearby and would like to consult with them. Thank you.

Re: John's Mayo clinic video
Hi Linda,
John had avulsed all five nerves in his accident.
He had two surgeries at Mayo in February & April '02, and the 2nd surgery was filmed by Discovery Health Channel for a special they did on the Mayo Clinic that then aired November '02. I guess it's John's "15 minutes of fame" because that's about how long his clip is.
The video introduces John & tells a bit about his story, then you meet the three Mayo bpi surgeons & get an overview of John's injury & their plan for surgery. There is coverage of parts of the actual surgery (primarily the gracilis muscle transfer & how it will enable finger movement) and then a wrap up of John several months later.
Of course, Discovery Channel "TV-cized" the story - but it still might be useful for those who are interested in Mayo and/or want to better understand the gracilis transfer.
Ellen
PS - Chris, thanks so much for posting!

OOOPS - PS - although they do see children, my impression is that Mayo primarily works with adults. John was 15 for his surgeries.
