Re: Scar Tissue Scraping
Hi! I am answering your question you made after I wrote about my son Michael and his neurolysis. As far as improvement made, at first I didn't see much honestly but as time has gone on, it's been one year and a half now, Michael has been able to lift his arm higher, does have stronger grasp, although nothing compared to a normal one, and he uses his hand more. I honestly don't know if it's due to normal progress that he would have made or due to the operation but because the doctor told me it would take time to see the results of it, I just figured it was from that. The doctor who did it told me that she actually didn't feel neurolysis did much but she did the operation with another doctor, who I guess did think so, so they cleaned the scar area. Though she might have not felt it would do much, she was willing to try it and speak faith for it, so to speak.
I sure hope this help. So sorry I can't give you much more info than this but at least it is our experience. God knows your heart and how much you love your little one and if you commit it all to Him, as I continually & do ask Him to guide you (or as many parents here say, "trust your gut feelings", I know you'll make the right decisions. It is hard to know what to do but love will guide you. "Put they hand into the hand of God and He shall be more to thee than a light and better than a known way." Hope it helps! Renee

Re: Scar Tissue Scraping
Our daughter Angelina just went in for surgry last Oct. The whole thing was neve wracking. We really were against it, but the Doc. (after checking up on him won't do surgery with out being sure...he made us wait 5 monthes.....anyway, She was just going in to have scraping (right side) and after Dr. T.S. Park scraped off the scar tissuse he found the nerve was disconnected and grafted to another nerve. I didn't relize how bad my daughter would look when the brung her out of surgery. To me she looked swollen , very pale, hook up. Scared the daylights out of me. But as soon as the quit giving her the morphine. she was up pulling off wires wanting down...less than 12 hours ( the had her in P.ICU)Angel was running around her room and outside it like it was nothing. She didn't even mind the cute pink brace the put on her arm
She is doing alot better now she still can't reach over her head, pull back, but her big one latley is reaching across to pull things off her left arm
Good luck, melanie
