We all know that I have successfully used botox on Juliana's triceps.

I know that there are many more of you who are interested in using it, but have some questions about how it is used.

My PT just suggested it for my daughter's triceps because they are contracted. The PT thought that temporarily paralyzing the muscle would help her get out of the "habit". How did it work fir your daughter? How many shots did she have. Was it pricy? Thanks.

How long has the recovery lasted. It has been suggested for my daughter as well.

I have heard more opinions that it doesn't last it is helps at all.

I am a great believer in Botox! Three days after his first botox shot (at the age of 2 3/4 years) Nicholas fed himself with his right hand for the first time in his life! The look on his face when he realized what he had done was worth a million! He was so excited (and of course I teared up)! Nicholas has had two rounds of botox to his tricep. His problem was/is that the tricep and bicep fire at the same time, but because the tricep is stronger it takes the movement and his arm doesn't bend. Botox has really helped! While his tricep is "out of service" his bicep has gotten stronger. When his first round was wearing off you could really tell, but he definately had made some progress! It depends on how much botox they put in as to how long it lasts. Ideally though they want it to last 3 months. We did another round to get more progress. Also keep in mind that while the muscle you wanted paralized it "out of service" you have to work with the muscle you want to strengthen, it won't get strong all by itself. We do daytime estim every other day to his bicep and several other muscle that need strength in addtion to occasional use of nighttime estim (he doesn't like this). Also as much OT, Aqua therapy, games, etc. that he will put up with. One thing I did notice also is that his tricep was so strong it was overpowering other muscle throughout his arm. He could even more his fingers more after. The cost of the botox probably depends on the dr./area etc. but it cost about $1,000 each time for us...and that was just for one muscle. We feel that it was very well worth it! It wasn't fun to watch, mind you but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It was over quick and we found a great Dr. in our area (Cinti.)!

I don't know about how well it would work for a contractor since that wasn't our problem....I would suggest that you call your BPI Specialist to see what they think.

I wonder if the botox would work on my terrible triceps? My triceps are shot.

Hi - I have a few questions:

1) Can Botox be used to help the bpi shoulder, which is higher and pulled forward as compared to the non-injured side, get back to its proper place?

2) We don't have a bpi specialist yet and when we do he'll be out-of-state. Who can we go to locally to see if use of Botox would be something beneficial for our child? Would that be our neurologist or a surgeon we consulted with regarding surgery, etc?

3) How do we find a Dr. who does Botox for this type of injury?

4) Does insurance cover Botox shots if you have a prescription? After all, it wouldn't be used for cosmetic purposes but medical.

5) Is there a Dr. anyone knows of who'd be willing to write an article to ubpn about how using Botox might benefit someone with a bpi, which might answer some of our questions or help raise more questions?

Would LOVE to see a doctor using botox write an article for Outreach. If we can't find a US doctor, I wonder if the UK doctor that Karen is familiar with would consider doing so.
