- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: To make an incredibly LONG story short...
When I was born, my mother's doctor was out of town. A doctor that would not perform c-sections was forced upon us. Being 10 lbs, my right shoulder got stuck under my mom's pubic bone. The doctor pulled me out by my head, which ripped/streched all the nerves in my neck and arm (So, OBPI).
I've had two surgeries at 9 months old, and 3 years old.
My mother suffered as well. She needed both brain surgery and a shunt--She still sufferes today.
My parents lost the court case due to a terrible jurey.
That's about it!
Hope I can find somebody my age to talk to :)
Amazing Story!
Just wanted to share my story with everybody. I truly believe everything happens for a reason.
Two weeks ago I saw a doctor in Cranberry. He was not a BPI specialist, but he performed elbow surgeries. My mom just wanted to see what he thought about my arm. My mom asked what he thought about botox. Basically, he wasn't sure so the following week he sent me to a botox specialist. He was located in the same building.
So, last Thursday, the 6th, I saw the botox specialist. I went through the normal measurements. It turned out he would not perform the botox, but he agreed that we should do it. It's temporary, and could possibly help in the long run.
While we were sitting in the room, the doctor (Dr Snow) actually called ANOTHER doctor. The other doctor, Dr Sangimino, had an opening and had Dr Snow send us down. He was only 10-15 minutes from the office we were currently at. I got checked out, and he agreed to do it. He said I would have it done between 3-4 weeks.
5 minutes later his nurse came in to do a physical and go over anesthesia. Drum roll.............She said I could have the procedure done Monday October 10! Mind you, it is still the 6th we are talking about.
The procedure went excellent. Dr Sangimino said that my arm responded better than he would have ever thought. Several doctors have said that I've formed a bone block. After the procedure Dr Sangimino found that I do not have one at all!
My arm did so well that Dr Sangimino will be presenting my case to Cleveland Clinic. I pray that it will help many many others. I truly believe that the events could not have happened so quickly one after the other without there being a higher plan.
If you keep your eyes open you will be amazed at how He works everyday!
P.S. I highly recommend Dr Sangimino and his staff to EVERYBODY!

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.
My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!
I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".
There is NO SUCH THING AS A DUMB QUESTION.
